Group for Animal Rights
This project is focused on spreading awareness about abuses that animals go through and how to fix the problem. Endangered species, animal testing, and animals in shelters are all a part of our concern. To spread awareness, we will create a children’s story book about animals. The money we collect thanks to donations will go to an animal shelter to help the pets.

I spent about two hours working on a flyer to make for a parent teacher conference. I included small facts and images to capture attention and give quick facts and printed out multiple copies to hand out to parents and brought a box around with me in order to collect donations. The donations ranged between $1 to $10. Each donation was very generous, as I spent 3 hours of the ptc trying to gain the donations. Overall, we received $55 for our cause.

I thought of things the group can do together or individually during the rest of summer then i created a group document to share these ideas and so that each person can keep this in mind

I started writing the book necessary for the cas project. It took an hour to write 2 paragraphs and come up with the format. There are still many more pages to write along with editing, formatting, and adding illustrations.
8/7/19
I worked more on the cas project book by doing research about different animals all over the world. Then I came up with ideas for “diary entries” for the book.
8/8/19
I finished up writing the book by creating a few more diary entries and an epilogue. I printed out the first draft of the book to see how the inside would look. I reached out to my group members about creating a cover and illustrations for the book.

To help spread awareness about the cause, we thought to make stickers to give out to people. It is a good gift and good to keep as a memento for later in life. Using a website that creates and ships stickers, I thought to make bright pink stickers that had bold, black font. The wording would say “Animal Rights” to show the focus of the group.

I collected money for the project during a parent-teacher conference and made about 40$. I gave out flyers to parents and students to show what I was collecting the money for. My group member had done the same the night before at the previous Parent Teacher Conference.
Spread idea about the project and spread awareness about the cause, as well as collected money which the project does for the final idea of giving the money back to an animal shelter

We brainstormed on ideas to raise awareness about the cause and possibly get donations from it. Muji is a store and has a service to embroider shapes onto items. It could be a nice idea to get a number of bags, and I could sell these to spread awareness and collect more money for the animal shelters.

Because of the recent Covid-19 pandemic, as a group we were unable to print our final children’s book project. In the near future, I will post the pages from it here.
Together, we made $140 in donations from Parent Teacher Conferences. Any other ways of collecting donations, such as future planned bake sales, were scrapped due to school closures, unfortunately. These donations will be given to an animal shelter after the end of “quarantine”.
