Soccer Tryouts May-June 2019 (20 hours)
I have previously thought about joining my school’s sports teams. I tried out for softball previously, and thought it was time to try again with another sport. Soccer seemed interesting because I would play from time to time with friends for recreation. I also felt compelled to join as some of my friends were also going to join the soccer team.

Every Friday, we were meant to be at the soccer field at 3:45. For 15 minutes, we ran laps around the field. After that, we stood in a circle and stretched in various ways. After stretching, we were split into smaller groups. The first time, the groups were split based on previous experience with soccer. After some drills, such as 3v3 games and running with the ball around cones, everyone played a game on one end of the field.

During other tryouts, we would again begin by running and stretching in order to warm up. After that, we would do drills again. Sometimes they were co-ed. We practiced kicking the ball into the goal and had half-field games with our group. After doing that for about two hours, the last hour we would have a full field co-ed game. I would often be in the left wing position.
This experience was very fulfilling. I got to spend time bonding with friends and meeting new people. The coaches were very helpful as well in the experience. I learned many physical skills and it kept me in shape and healthy. I was very proud of myself and the work I had done during that time because I knew I gave it my best and pushed myself in order to do that.
